Eighteen people have been killed, and nine others remain unaccounted for following heavy rains and landslides that began ravaging the country last week, the government said Monday.
Torrential rains caused significant damage to infrastructure, property, and roads. Landslide warnings were issued for at least 50 regions, and around 3,500 people were stranded, according to the South Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The rescuers recovered three more bodies, who were swept away in the floods in South Korea, on Tuesday, taking the total death toll to 44, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The UAE expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with South Korea over the victims of the torrential rains and floods that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.
