"As per information received from Army Traffic Control Points, Chungthang, the water levels have risen in the Muguthang area and proceeding downstream. All those in the low-lying areas are advised to stay alert," said the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority.
As per the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) report of October 9 at 10:00 am, the death toll was registered at 34. It further said that 105 have been reported as missing.
As many as 68 people, stranded at the height of 16,000 feet due to the recent flash flood, were rescued by Himveers of Indo-Tibetan Border Police here in North Sikkim, officials said on Friday.
According to an official statement from the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Indian Army, the search operation for the missing soldiers continues with the focus now on the downstream areas of Teesta Barrage.
