According to officials, information regarding the incident was received at the Shahbad Dairy police station on August 31. Police staff rushed to the spot and found that about 40-45 temporary huts were engulfed in flames.
According to the Pimpri Chinchwad Fire Department, the massive fire caused significant damage, resulting in the loss of cash, and jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh, the lifetime savings of the labourers.
Officials said that nine fire tenders are on the scene to douse the fire. The visuals of the incident showed a thick plume of smoke billowing from the houses engulfed by the fire.
