Indian stock indices traded largely steady on Wednesday morning. Sensex and Nifty traded with a minor 0.1 per cent loss each at the time of writing this report, attributable to profit booking by investors.
Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed about 0.3 per cent lower each. The fall in indices could be attributed to profit booking by investors after the latest consistent rally in Indian stocks.
Investors' sentiments across the world by and large will be influenced by the FOMC meeting outcome. It is expected that the European Central Bank (ECB) will announce its interest rate decision on May 4.
BSE Sensex was down 43 points to 60,349.14 while NSE Nifty lost 10 points to 17,802.55 on Thursday morning. BSE Financial Services, BSE FMCG, S&P BSE Energy were trading in the positive territory while BSE IT was trading in the negative territory.
The critical indices of the domestic market -- BSE Sensex went up 335 points to 61,610.20 while Nifty gained 94 points to 18,113.15 on Thursday morning.
Key indices of the domestic market Sensex lost 120.88 points to 60,542.91 while Nifty declined 52 points to 17,817.65. Gainers on Sensex were Bajaj Finance, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys, TCS and Power Grid while Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, Bharti Airtel and Maruti were some of the laggards.
The domestic stocks in opening trade also seemed to have recovered from last week's losses when shares of the Adani Group firms suffered a rout and the outcome dragged on the stock key indices, namely Sensex and Nifty.
Sensex dropped below 60,000 by losing 452 points to 59,900.37 level and Nifty also declined 154 points to 17,837.45 level. The investors were on wait and watch mode as they wait for the US key jobs report which is due for release later on Friday.
