Under the banner of the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, affiliated with CITU, Anganwadi workers from the Chakkkar, New Shimla, and Sanjauli circles of the ICDS Project Shimla staged a strong protest outside the DPO office in Nigam Vihar, Shimla.
The organisation demanded that the demolition be carried out by December 29, in compliance with court directions. The group also offered to carry out the demolition free of cost if the Municipal Corporation or the mosque's Muslim committee is unable or unwilling to execute the order.
Addressing a press conference in Shimla and later speaking with ANI, Nazakat Ali Hashmi, President, All Himachal Muslims Organisation, said the mosque has existed in Sanjauli since 1915 and has been duly recorded in various official revenue documents.
Despite recent tensions and protests by Hindu groups over the disputed mosque building in Sanjauli, the Muslim community on Friday offered Jumma (Friday) prayers peacefully, emphasising unity and brotherhood in the Himachal Pradesh capital.
