The service on Saturday included a psalm reading by former US President's person pastor Tony Lowden, a prayer by Bernstine Hollis, a longtime friend and employee at the Carter Center, as well as music by the Morehouse College Glee Club, CBS News reported.
In 1978, Jimmy Carter visited the village and was warmly received by the residents. The village was renamed in honour of the former US President following his visit to India in 1978.
Former US First Lady as well as mental health activist Rosalynn Carter passed away at the age of 96, CNN reported, citing the Carter Centre, on Sunday.
