Chiranjeevi debuted as an actor in the Telugu film 'Punadhirallu' in 1978. He got the 'Raghupathi Venkaiah' honour, the top film honour in Andhra Pradesh, three Nandi Awards, and nine Filmfare Awards South, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006.
