In a significant development in the ongoing family dispute, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued summons in a Rs. 20 crore defamation suit filed by Priya Sachdeva Kapur against her sister-in-law, Mandhira Kapur Smith and another individual.
The Bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad of Delhi High Court on Friday directed that the civil defamation suit filed by Priya Sachdeva Kapur against Mandhira Kapur Smith and a podcaster be listed before the same judge who is hearing the main suit relating to the family dispute.
In the suit, filed under the court's ordinary original civil jurisdiction, Kapur has sought a decree for damages amounting to Rs 20,00,00,000 for alleged loss of reputation, mental agony and social humiliation.
Speaking with ANI, Mandhira expressed support for Karisma Kapoor's children and belief in the justice system in India and said that the Court's direction "will bring more clarity, more visibility and transparency to everything" regarding her brother's assets.
