The Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, interacted with interns of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) at Hampi, Karnataka on 15th October, 2025.
On the occasion of India's 79th Independence Day, 18 officers from 13 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were felicitated at district-level ceremonies for their outstanding contribution to the successful implementation of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS).
The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS Scheme), announced in the Budget 2024- 25, aims to provide one crore youth with internship opportunities in the top 500 companies in five years.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said that the Prime Minister Internship Scheme announced last year was not meant to provide jobs, instead it was to provide exposure and skill to the youth to make them job ready.
The registration process has begun for the Prime Minister Internship scheme on the online portal. The scheme is initiative by Modi government for skilling of youth to enhance their employability
On the eve of the portal's opening to applicants, the number of opportunities posted to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal surged to 90,849 as of 11th October 2024, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
