The Haryana government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation to facilitate free train travel for eligible senior citizens to various pilgrimage sites under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, officials said here on Tuesda
Indian Railways has played a major role in transporting millions of pilgrims to the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, operating over 14,000 trains to ensure smooth and efficient travel for devotees from across the country, according to the statement.
The pilgrimage train is part of an initiative of the state tourism department under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana to help elderly people carry out their spiritual journey in places of religious importance.
