The polio vaccination campaign in Pakistan's merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fell short of its target, leaving over 935,000 children under five unvaccinated, officials said, citing security challenges and population displacement as key hurdles, The Express Tribune reported.
According to Dawn, the affected workers said the revised criteria have effectively shut the door to their reappointment despite years of field experience in high-risk, hard-to-reach areas.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anil Manhas, told ANI, "For the drive, we have set up 535 pulse polio booths in the district and deployed 144 teams. Our target is to vaccinate 86,192 children under the age of five. We have also deployed 2148 people at the booths."
