The Government of India has appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce Ajay Bhadoo, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Government e Marketplace (GeM) with effect from March 3, 2025.
The initiative aims to encourage the participation of women entrepreneurs and Self Help Groups (SHGs) from the informal sector in public procurement through the GeM portal, facilitating direct sales to various government buyers without intermediaries.
Procurement of goods and services from government portal GeM will cross Rs 3 lakh crore this financial year ending on March 31, 2024, said Chief Executive Officer of Government e-Marketplace (GeM) PK Singh in a media briefing.
