Tibetan monk Kunga Lama said the Dalai Lama's birthday is a celebration of Tibetan identity, unity, and peace. He offered prayers for the Dalai Lama's long life and for flood victims in Himachal. A young reincarnated monk also participated in the prayers and cake-cutting ceremony.
The boy monk Nawang Tashi Rapten, the Taklung Tsetul Rinpoche, and the head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism also participated in the prayers.
