Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday distributed seed capital fund cheques involving Rs 10,000 to each of the 31,017 women in the Mangaldoi constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarma said that his government, with the aim of promoting academic excellence, introduced the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award.

Assam Chief Minister on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to the state on September 8, will inaugurate a bio-refinery in Numaligarh and lay down the foundation of multiple development projects.
Under the scheme, 10 lakh girls (one million- Nijut Moina) will be supported with financial grants as admission incentives to continue their education to higher secondary, graduation and post-graduation studies.
