The NIFTY ended at 24,480.50, down 385.20 points or 1.55 per cent as of the time of filing this report. The index opened at 24,388.80 and touched an intraday high of 24,602.45 before sliding to a low of 24,305.40 during the session.
Only three sectors witnessed buying in trade including Nifty Media (up 0.93%), Nifty FMCG (up 0.11%) and Nifty PSU Bank (up 0.05%). Nifty IT (0.75%) and Nifty Bank (0.53%) were the key losers.
Sensex suffered loss of 0.63% at 84,679.86, while the Nifty 50 down by 0.64% at 25,860.10. Among the sectors, Nifty Realty emerged as the top laggard. Others including Nifty Bank, Nifty Oil & Gas, and Nifty Pharma all closed lower while on the upside was Nifty Consumer Durables index.

At the end of the trading session, BSE Sensex was up 442.62 points or 0.54 per cent at 82,200.34, and the Nifty 50 at National Stock Exchange (NSE) was up 122.30 points or 0.49 per cent at 25,090.70.
