Former MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy quit the BJP and returned to the Congress on Wednesday, claiming that people were looking at the grand old party to oust the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) from power in Telangana.
In a major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming elections in Telangana, former MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has decided to part ways with the party and asserted that he is witnessing a notable shift in Telangana's political landscape.
Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy on Wednesday took a jibe at the ruling TRS in the state and said that the party has "completely become a parasite" and alleged that KCR "could not stand on his own feet in Munugode".
"The habit of distributing liquor and money is of TRS party. In Huzerabad, I never distributed money or liquor. You can enquire on it. Six times I have become MLA. KCR used to tell that he never distributed money in Siddipet, the same culture continued. However after 2014, it all got changed
"TRS has Kaleswaram project and land grabbings. KCR took Rs 5 lakh crores debts. To build the defunct project he spent Rs 1.5 lakh crore for Kaleswaram Commission project and the remaining money is with him. With that KCR is funding other states and other chief ministers," said BJP leader KV
The BJP and TRS had been going neck-and-neck in the fight for the prized Munugode seat before the latter opened out a lead and eventually cruised home by a slender margin.
Prabhakar Reddy secured 97,006 votes amounting to a vote share of 42.95 per cent. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy came second with 38.38 per cent of votes.
