Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged all the stakeholders to move forward together with uncompromising efforts to complete the rehabilitation of survivors of the Wayanad landslides on the first anniversary of the disaster.
The cabinet sub-committee said that financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each has been made available to 379 families directly affected by the Mundakai-Churalmala disaster.
A central team visited the disaster-hit areas of Wayanad, led by Union Home Department Joint Secretary and Inter-Ministerial Central Team Leader Rajeev Kumar.
During their morning combing operation along the river banks from Mundakai to Soochipara, the ICG search team sighted three individuals stranded near the waterfalls. The presence of the survivors was immediately reported to the control centre at Mepadi.
The number of people who died in the landslides that struck the hilly areas of Meppadi in Wayanad district on Tuesday following incessant rainfall has gone up to 158, the Kerala Revenue Department said today.
