Ghana has reported 45 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the past month, marking its worst outbreak since 2022, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
The patient, a 28-year-old male resident of Shah Latif Town, contracted the virus after his wife showed symptoms. The patient's wife has a travel history abroad.
Pakistan reported its eighth case of Mpox this year on Thursday, involving a 30-year-old labourer who arrived at Islamabad Airport from Saudi Arabia, as reported by the Dawn.
A 26-year-old man suspected of having mpox was admitted to a hospital after arriving at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport from Jeddah. This marks the fourth suspected case in three weeks, raising concerns as the total number of reported cases across Pakistan climbs to seven.
The report was compiled by Border Health Services and it stated that a 44-year-old man, Farooq, a resident of Punjab's Gujrat, reached Pakistan from Riyadh on September 14
Speaking to ANI, Bhardwaj said " I conducted a surprise visit at the LNJP hospital today to review the preparations for dengue and monkeypox. One case of monkeypox has been confirmed till now and the patient has a travel history of getting infected when he was travelling abroad."
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the previously suspected case of Mpox (monkeypox) has been verified as a travel-related infection. Laboratory testing has confirmed the presence of the Mpox virus of West African clade-2 in the patient.
