North Korea on Tuesday launched a rocket with its first spy satellite, The New York Times reported. South Korea said this was an attempt by North Korea to put its first military reconnaissance satellite in orbit, this time with technological help from Russia.
The firing comes as North Korea had pledged to launch a rocket carrying a military reconnaissance satellite again "as soon as possible" following a failed launch in May.
Kim Yo Jong made the above remarks while slamming the United States for condemning North Korea's satellite launch, Yonhao reported quoting Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
According to Korea Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea launched "Malligyong-1," the military reconnaissance satellite mounted on a new-type rocket named "Chollima-1," at its rocket launching station on the west coast at 6:27 am (local time).
According to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korean leader Kim Jong Un directed his country's space agency to finalise preparations for the launch of Pyongyang's first military reconnaissance satellite.
