India's current account deficit (CAD) is expected to remain under control at 1 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) in the current financial year, even as the economy faces challenges from higher tariffs and global geopolitical headwinds, according to a report by Crisil.
Driven by falling gold and crude oil shipments, India's merchandise imports show a declining trend in June 2025; however, exports remained flat, said Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) in its latest analysis.
The merchandise imports from Russia increased from USD 6.58 billion in April-December 2021 to USD 32.88 billion in April-December 2022, which is an increase of 399.73 per cent, according to sources from the ministry of commerce and industry.
