INS Tarkash, a frontline frigate of the Indian Navy operating under the Western Naval Command, has successfully intercepted and seized over 2500 kg of narcotics in the Western Indian Ocean.
The Indian Navy has responded to the manifestation of the Israel-Hamas conflict in the maritime domain by re-orienting and significantly enhancing the scope of its ongoing maritime security operations since mid-December 2023 under the aegis of 'Operation Sankalp'.
In response to the situation, the Indian Navy launched an Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) and diverted INS Chennai, deployed for maritime security operations, to assist the vessel.
The Indian Navy released an official statement confirming the commencement of focused operations aimed at bolstering security measures in the Arabian Sea. The move comes in the wake of incidents that raised concerns about the safety of shipping and trade routes in the region.
