The Mandala-Makaravilakku festival at the Sabarimala temple concludes with the closing of the sanctum sanctorum following age-old rituals. The two-month-long festival comes to an end.
The sacred journey of the Thanka Anki began at around 7 am, accompanied by devotees and temple officials. The procession signifies the countdown to the Mandala Pooja, which marks the conclusion of the 41-day Mandala pilgrimage season at the Sabarimala temple.
According to official data, as of 7 pm on December 3, a total of 14,95,774 pilgrims had reached the hill shrine. With arrivals after 7 pm yet to be added, the total footfall is expected to surpass 15 lakh.
The Sannidhanam opened on November 16 for the 2024-25 pilgrimage season. Since then, the flow of devotees has remained consistently high. As per data available till 7 pm on November 21, a total of 4,94,151 pilgrims have had darshan at the shrine.
According to figures available till 12 PM on November 18, a total of 1,96,594 pilgrims had darshan of Lord Ayyappa. The count includes devotees who arrived through both virtual queue and spot booking.
