The attack took place in Meerzorg, a town located across the Suriname River from the capital, and began on Saturday evening. Media reports said the suspect attacked members of his own family as well as neighbours. Among those killed were the man's four children.
A man allegedly stabbed his mother-in-law, brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law after the family members intervened in the altercation between the accused and his wife, said the police on Wednesday.
A youth allegedly stabbed his father following an argument on the intervening night of August 12 and 13 at 11 pm in the National Capital, police said on Tuesday.
According to Delhi Police, Javed and Afsana were married a few years ago but both were living separately for the last two to three months. Yesterday evening when Afsana went to Javed's place, the couple had a fight, after which Javed attacked Afsana with a knife leading to her death.
The prime suspect, his nephew Bashir Azam, was arrested after a manhunt by the police. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered. The deceased was identified as Kabir Azam, a 54-year-old widower. He worked as an auto driver, the police said.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Mohammed Zaid (20), got into an argument with the two victims, identified as Rahul (19) and his cousin, Sonu, over a petty issue.
Detailing the incident, DSP Srinivasa Murthy said, "The incident took place in Vidyanagar Colony of Chitttoor city where a man who is working as a teacher in SR Puram Gandlapalli school stabbed his wife to death on Saturday morning".
