The plan to set up a foreign liquor shop at Harshil, Uttarkashi, has been postponed due to local objections. District Magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht confirmed the delay, highlighting concerns from residents of the popular tourist destination.

Speaking in the Assembly today, Lokesh also criticized the previous YSRCP's government for its "cruel history" of forcing teachers to stand guard outside liquor shops, calling it a clear sign of neglect towards the education sector.
"The AAP government in Delhi has done only drama and gimmicks in the last 10 years. AAP leaders had promised to open 500 new schools before the elections, but opened liquor shops in every street," Dhami said in the meeting.
