Uttarakhand Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), visited the Kedarnath Dham on Tuesday and offered a special Rudrabhishek. He also inspected the ongoing construction and development work there.
According to an official release, Kedarnath Yatra has set a new record this year. As of Wednesday, the number of pilgrims visiting Kedarnath has crossed 16.52 lakh, while there are still 14 days left before the temple gates close.

The Kedarnath Yatra on Wednesday has been halted for three days due to heavy rainfall warnings in Uttarakhand. Pilgrims are being stopped at Sonprayag and Jawadi police posts, with barricades set up to prevent them from proceeding further.
A holiday has been declared for all schools from classes 1 to 12 as well as all Anganwadi centers in the Dehradun district today in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall issued by the Meteorological Department.
The Kedarnath Yatra in Uttarakhand has been temporarily halted for three days due to a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall in the region.
The Chief Minister interacted with those brought to safety and assured them of all possible assistance from the state government. He also spoke with personnel from the administration, NDRF, and SDRF teams preparing for further rescue missions in the region.
In a post on X, Rudraprayag Police wrote, "The pedestrian track at Chhodi Gadhere, one kilometre ahead of Gaurikund, has been damaged due to a landslide, as a result of which, the Kedarnath Dham Yatra has been temporarily halted."
Describing the pilgrimage as "a wonderful confluence of development with faith," the Chief Minister said the surge in footfall has not only strengthened Uttarakhand's spiritual landscape but also significantly boosted its local economy.
In the 48 days since the doors of Shri Kedarnath Yatra were opened, the number of devotees arriving for the pilgrimage as of Wednesday has crossed 11 lakh 40 thousand.
According to a statement from the Rudraprayag Police, the landslide was triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, which caused large amounts of debris and stones to fall onto the trekking route, blocking and damaging the walkway to Kedarnath Dham.
