Seasoned former England speedster James Anderson has signed a new one-year contract, extending his 25-year-long playing career with Lancashire Cricket. Under his contract with the Red Rose, Anderson will feature in both the Rothesay County Championship and the Vitality Blast.
Anderson, who is set to feature for Lancashire against Worcestershire on Friday evening, has made a remarkable impact in his three Vitality Blast fixtures so far.
Anderson, 42, has taken seven wickets so far in the T20 Blast at an average of 10.14 and an economy rate of just 6/45. His best figures are 3/17, which also happen to be his best T20 figures.
The 42-year-old English pace wonder, who retired from international cricket after last year with 704 Test wickets and over 991 international scalps, is currently signed to his county for a one-year-deal, which makes him available for County Championship and T20 Blast cricket, as per Wisden.
Former England speedster James Anderson continued to dazzle and inflict his infectious charm with ball during the County Championship match between Lancashire and Derbyshire at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Ahead of his final international match on July 10 against West Indies, England and Lancashire pacer James Anderson sent out warning signs as he was at his lethal best taking a seven-wicket-haul against Nottinghamshire on Tuesday, forcing a follow on.
Anderson picked up the injury while bowling on the opening day of Lancashire's County clash against Somerset in Manchester and the 40-year-old did not take the field over the final three days of the contest that ended tamely in a draw on Sunday.
