The Indian Navy has deployed INS Tarangini and INS Ikshak, along with maritime patrol aircraft, to assist in the Sri Lanka-led search and rescue operations for the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena, which sank on Wednesday after being struck by a US submarine torpedo.
This occasion marked the formal induction of INS Ikshak, reflecting the Indian Navy's steadfast commitment to enhancing its hydrographic and maritime capabilities.
The Indian Navy will commission 'Ikshak', the third Survey Vessel (Large) and first to be based at Southern Naval Command, in Kochi on November 6. Built by GRSE with over 80 per cent indigenous content, the ship enhances India's hydrographic survey capabilities.

Ikshak (Yard 3027), the third of four Survey Vessel (Large) ships, 102nd ship steered by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau, built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata and overseen by Warship Overseeing Team (Kolkata) was delivered to the Indian Navy on Thursday.
