Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Friday said that 500 old and unfit buses of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will be taken out of service within the next two months and replaced by 747 new buses, as part of a major overhaul of the corporation's fleet and services.

A major controversy erupted in Himachal Pradesh after the posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were forcefully placed in Punjab on buses operated by Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).
A delegation of HPPS officers, led by SP Sandeep Bhardwaj, called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today and apprised him of their demands. The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for restoring the concessional travel facility in HRTC buses.
“We received info from the Russian Embassy that 15 Russian tourists are stranded in Kasol. We are trying to establish contact and once we will be able to contact the tourists, we will inform the Embassy about their well-being,” said Acting DGP, Satwant Atwal Trivedi.
