The Indian Navy is all set to commission its latest stealth-guided missile destroyer, Imphal, at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, on December 26, in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as the Chief Guest.
The event marks the formal induction into the Navy of the third of four 'Visakhapatnam' class destroyers, indigenously designed by the Indian Navy's in-house organisation, Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai.
According to the Indian Navy, this was the first ever test-firing of the extended-range Brahmos missile by a warship before the commissioning, which underscores the unwavering focus of the navy on combat readiness.
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] April 20 (ANI): Third ship of Project 15B, Guided Missile Destroyer Imphal, was launched here at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) on Saturday.
