The funeral ceremony was attended by top political leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who paid their final respects to the departed leader.
Chief Minister Patel, accompanied by senior cabinet ministers, stood in solemn tribute at the mortuary block of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where Rupani's mortal remains were kept for public homage.
His son, Rushabh Rupani, said this was "a sad time not just for us, but for 270 families too," while thanking those who stood by them during this mourning period.
Speaking to ANI, the Chairman of Ramnathpara crematorium said, "The 'agni sanskar' of Vijay Rupani will be performed here. The 'agni sanskar' will be performed around 6 pm, and the procession will begin at 5 pm from his residence."
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, will be cremated in Rajkot later today with full state honours.
