The US Federal Reserve, in its latest policy meeting held on January 27-28, decided to keep its key benchmark interest rates unchanged at 3.5 to 3.75 per cent, citing low job gains, signs of stabilisation in the labour market, and inflation that remains somewhat elevated.
The key indices in the domestic market -- BSE Sensex went down 927 points and settled at 59,744.98 level while NSE Nifty lost 280 points and closed the session at 17,546.55 level.
The US central bank's policy rate is now in a target range of 4.25-4.50 per cent, the highest level in 15 years, and notably, it was near zero in the early part of 2022.

Washington [US], September 22 (ANI): The US Federal Reserve has yet again raised key interest rates in its fight against red-hot inflation in the country. The key policy rate was raised by 75 basis points to 3.0-3.25 per cent -- which is the third consecutive hike of the same magnitude.
