Tripura joined the global celebration of International Olympic Day with a grand rally organized by the Tripura Olympic Association, showcasing the state's deep commitment to sports and its aspiration to produce world-class athletes.
After announcing her retirement from the sport, former athlete Dipa Karmakar said that the future of gymnastics is really good as the passion of winning a medal has increased a lot amongst the youngsters.
Dipa added that her performance at the Rio Olympics was the most memorable moment of her career. She also recalled the challenges she faced in gymnastics during childhood, becuase of being flat-footed.
Karmakar, a prominent figure in Indian gymnastics, who achieved a fourth-place finish in the vault event at the 2016 Rio Olympics, visited the facility and inspired youngsters to follow in her footsteps
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who secured the gold medal at the Asian Championships, expressed happiness on finally securing the cherished medal after missing out on some opportunities by a narrow margin earlier and opened up on the tough journey towards the top podium finish
