Delhi's Karkardooma Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Shahrukh Pathan, the man accused of pointing a gun at a policeman during the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.
The case was transferred to the CBI by the Delhi High Court on July 27, 2024, on a petition moved by Faizan's mother, Kismatun. In August 2024, the CBI registered a case under sections related to the offences of rioting, unlawful assembly, murder, etc.
The court pointed out that none of the public witnesses supported the prosecution's case that the accused were a part of the riotous mob which had looted, vandalised and ransacked the shops or houses.
There are 18 accused in the case, including Umar Khalid, Shakeel Imam, Tahir Husain, Natasha Narwal, Devangana Kalita and others who are facing the allegations of larger Conspiracy in North East Delhi riots 2020.
