Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court's order directing the removal of stray dogs from all localities in Delhi-NCR within eight weeks and said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) would implement the order in a phased manner.
The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the election to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Mayor shall be conducted first and nominated persons have no right to vote in meetings of the Corporation.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud orally observed that the constitutional provision is very clear that the nominated members cannot go for election.
