The flight had taken a longer route over Africa to avoid conflict zones but made a U-turn near the Ethiopia-Eritrea border and headed back to Delhi, landing at around 2:30 PM. This resulted in a 14-hour journey that ended where it began.
IndiGo has commenced direct flights between Delhi and Manchester on November 15, following the successful launch of its first-ever long-haul service connecting Mumbai and Manchester earlier this year, a press release from the airline said.
IndiGo will soon increase the frequency of its flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Manchester, strengthening connectivity to the United Kingdom, as per IndiGo's official statement.
