As the death toll rose to 10 in the tragic Meerut building collapse, District Magistrate Deepak Meena said that financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakh per deceased and Rs. 1.20 lakh for the re-construction is being given to the victims' family members.
Three people were killed while six others are still trapped in the rubble after a building collapsed on Saturday, said District Magistrate Deepak Meena.
"Prima facie, the impact was caused in machinery, probably due to some chemical used in it, the exact reason is still being ascertained," said the district magistrate.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor on Thursday, invoked his special powers to appoint the son of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shambhu Dayal Meena, who was killed while displaying exemplary valour on duty, as the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police.
In view of the severe cold wave, schools up to classes 8th in Meerut will remain closed till January 17, said District Magistrate Deepak Meena on Sunday.
