The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh from February 1, with a significant drop in temperatures expected over the following days.

The rainfall activity was triggered by a trough at mean sea level stretching from East Uttar Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh and a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam at about 0.9 km above sea level.

He further stated that while there was a possibility of rain in Delhi today, forecasts by IMD predicted thunderstorm activity and gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
The weather department said a low-pressure area will likely form over the same region around May 22, under its influence. Thereafter, it is likely to move northwards and intensify further.
According to RMC reports, a cyclonic circulation, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, is projected to move west-southwestward. It is expected to reach the southwest Bay of Bengal, near the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts, around December 24.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic circulation over central Andaman Sea is expected to intensify into Cyclone Dana by Wednesday and is expected to reach the northwest Bay of Bengal, off Odisha-West Bengal coasts by Thursday morning.
