The Amritsar Rural Police on Saturday arrested Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih in a counter-espionage operation for their alleged role in the sensitive information and photographs of Army Cantonment areas and Air Bases in Amritsar, as per the information.
The Ministry of State Security said that China should inspire its citizens to participate in counter-espionage work, as well as, reward and protect entities who report espionage to normalize the concept of people participating in such work, reported CNN.
The revised law allows authorities carrying out an anti-espionage investigation to gain access to data, electronic equipment, and information on personal property and also to ban border crossings, according to Portal Plus.
The National People's Congress (NPC) standing committee on April 26 passed an amendment to strengthen China's anti-spy law. The amended law will take effect on July 1.
