According to an official statement from the Chief Minister's office, CM Gupta chaired a review meeting of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) at the Delhi Secretariat to assess preparedness ahead of the upcoming summer season.
Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Sunday inspected the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant in the city where flooding due to rain damaged the motors, causing water supply disruption in many parts of Central Delhi.
Chandrawal WTP alongside two other water treatment plants namely Wazirabad and Okhla were closed on July 13 as the floodwater entered the pumping stations of these plants.
The Chandrawal treatment plant is also being upgraded under the plan. After the completion of the project, the capacity of this water treatment plant will be 105 MGD and this will enable around 22 lakh people in Delhi to get clean water at their homes.
In his letter, LG Saxena also flagged gross inaction on part of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in cleaning and desilting the pond reservoir behind the Wazirabad barrage, which supplies water to Wazirabad and Chandrawal Water Treatment Plants.
