All four accused arrested in the case of alleged gangrape of a law student at the South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba area on June 25 were produced before the Alipore court on Tuesday.
Lashing out at the TMC government for "failing" to protect the women in the state, the Prime Minister said that the injustice is happening under the rule of the party that preaches the values of "Maa, Mati, and Manush."
"Late last evening, a woman reported at Haridevpur Police Station that she was raped by a student inside the IIM Calcutta campus. Based on her complaint, a case has been registered, and the accused has been arrested," the police said.
The incident took place on June 25, when a student was allegedly gang-raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in the Kasba area of Kolkata. Kolkata Police said on June 30 that the three main accused in the case were arrested in less than 12 hours.
West Bengal Police on Friday brought the arrested accused in the Kolkata gangrape case to South Calcutta Law College for the reconstruction of the crime scene.
This comes after a female student was allegedly gang raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kasba area in the capital city of West Bengal on June 25.
The accused's father said that he trusts the State government, police, and administration, and is confident that the truth will come out during the investigation.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma urged everyone, including the media, to refrain from revealing the identity of the victim of the alleged gangrape case which took place inside the campus of the South Calcutta Law College on social media or anywhere else.
