Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Wednesday said that nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) provide the third leg of the nuclear triad. He added that the next SSBN will be commissioned in the "coming months".
The INS Arihant is the first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine made by India, commissioned in 2018, while the INS Arighaat is the second SSBN, commissioned last week into the Navy by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
