The overall air quality in the national capital remained in the 'moderate' category for the second consecutive day on Thursday morning, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 173, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
In the National Capital Region (NCR) Noida recorded an AQI of 353, in the 'very poor' category, while Gurugram recorded an AQI of 346 and continued to remain in the 'very poor category'.
Sources in the Environment Ministry told ANI that the contribution of stubble burning to the adverse air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region has been increasing sharply and is about 18-20 per cent currently and with the trend is only likely to increase further.
