Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Wednesday bated for strong laws to deal with the crimes against women. He pointed out that after the murder and rape of a doctor at a hospital in Kolkata the Karnataka government constituted a committee to look into the safety of women in hospitals.
Janta Dal (United) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad on Wednesday said that despite the West Bengal Assembly passing the 'Aparajita Woman and Child (West Bengal Criminal Laws and Amendment) 2024', if stringent action is not taken on all levels of the government regarding crimes against women,
The West Bengal Assembly unanimously passed the 'Aparajita Woman and Child Bill (West Bengal Criminal Laws and Amendment) 2024', after which the West Bengal government called it "historic" and on the other hand the Bharatiya Janata Party termed it as "dramabaazi" of the state government.
"What action was taken against those who destroyed evidence at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital? Her intention is not to address the issues faced by women in the state or work for their welfare but to save herself from all the humiliation and divert the issue," Trivedi said.
