In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police on Saturday busted a terror module linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in Amritsar, arresting a local operative and recovering a cache of sophisticated firearms.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lauded the state police for their swift action, calling the arrests "a reflection of patriotic commitment" in safeguarding national security.
Punjab Police's Counter-Intelligence unit in Amritsar arrested a man and recovered five illegal pistols allegedly supplied through cross-border networks, officials said on Tuesday.
"One official from an enforcement agency who was misusing his position to facilitate the network in connivance with co-accused Ravi has been arrested. The duo was sourcing consignments from across the border, with Ravi linked to foreign-based smugglers," read the police statement.

The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a smuggling bid in Punjab's Amritsar and arrested three smugglers who were trying to get away with the consignment of heroin.
"On the intermittent night of May 27-28, Border Security Force (BSF) troop shot down a drone (Quadcopter, DJI Matrice RTK 300) near Village Dhanoe Khurd, district Amritsar. Troops apprehended a smuggler," BSF DIG Sanjay Gaur, Amritsar said on Sunday.
