US lawmakers have called for a national security investigation into Chinese EV charger manufacturer Autel Energy, citing alleged links to the Chinese Communist Party and People's Liberation Army, and raising concerns about risks to American infrastructure and data.
The United States has identified and dismantled a botnet campaign orchestrated by hackers linked to China, aimed at infiltrating American infrastructure and various internet-connected devices, Voice of America reported.
US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg emphasised that the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which collapsed earlier on Tuesday, was not an ordinary bridge and was one of the cathedrals of American infrastructure and added that the path to normalcy will not be easy.
"China's hackers are positioning on American infrastructure in preparation to wreak havoc and cause real-world harm to American citizens and communities if or when China decides the time has come to strike," Wray told the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.
