The facility is built at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus. A total of 56 aircraft are there under the C-295 programme, of which 16 are being delivered directly by Airbus from Spain and the remaining 40 are to be made in India.
India had signed a contract with Airbus in 2021 to buy 56 C-295 transport aircraft of which 16 were to be directly sent from Spain while 40 had to be manufactured in India at Tata facility in Vadodara.
In September 2021, India formalised the acquisition of 56 Airbus C295 aircraft to replace the legacy Avro fleet of the IAF at a cost of Rs 21,935 crore.
