Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee was suspended for one session of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 after he reportedly smashed a glass bottle during a heated exchange with BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay here on Tuesday.
Heated exchanges between Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee and BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly during a JPC meeting on Tuesday resulted in the former smashing a glass water bottle and hurting himself.
"Those who are voting in the sixth phase are all equal according to the Indian Constitution. Everyone has to queue up before the polling booth and cast his vote. I have cast my vote today for Narendra Modi, for Viksit Bharat, for a strong India," Adhikari said.
"First, police launched a lathi charge, it then pelted stones and later tear gas shells were used on our workers. Then, our workers were arrested," Majumdar said speaking to ANI after clashes with police personnel on their way to Basirhat Superintendent of Police (SP) office.
