UNSC condemns Pulwama terror attack, urges countries to cooperate with India
New York [US] Feb 22 (ANI): United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday strongly condemned the "heinous and cowardly" Pulwama suicide terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed and asked all countries to cooperate with India in its efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism.

New York [US] Feb 22 (ANI): United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday strongly condemned the "heinous and cowardly" Pulwama suicide terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed and asked all countries to cooperate with India in its efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism.
"The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly suicide bombing in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in over 40 Indian paramilitary forces dead and dozens wounded on February 14, 2019, for which Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility," said UNSC in a press statement.
Urging all the states to take action, UNSC underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice. UNSC further asked all the countries to cooperate actively with the Indian Government and all other relevant authorities in this regard.
The UNSC also expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
"The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Indian people and the government of India, and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured," the statement further said.
This comes a day after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres offered to broker peace between India and Pakistan in view of the growing tension between the two neighbours after the suicide attack in Pulwama on February 14.
Soon after the attack, Pakistan-sponsored Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit claimed responsibility for the attack.
Further, members of the Security Council said that any acts of terrorism is "criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed."
"They reaffirmed the need for all States to combat by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts" the statement said.
Soon after the attack, several countries including the United States and various Arab nations criticised the ghastly Pulwama attack. (ANI)
