UNGA president urges redoubling efforts to ensure progress in nuclear disarmament

In a post by the White House, President Trump, while acknowledging that the United States is currently the world's leading oil producer and stands to benefit financially from higher crude prices, emphasised that his administration's overriding mission remains the permanent dismantling of Iran's nuclear program.

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.

Secretary Hegseth underscored a shift in American military doctrine, distancing the current administration from the "endless nation-building" of previous decades. "Those days are dead," Hegseth stated. "Instead, we're winning decisively with brutal efficiency and an unbreakable will to accomplish the President's objectives."

In an interview with PBS News, Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi ruled out further talks with the US due to "bitter experience." He defended strikes on regional oil infrastructure as legitimate self-defence and reaffirmed that Tehran is "well prepared" to continue missile attacks following the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei.

US President Donald Trump suggested a temporary waiver of certain oil sanctions to curb soaring energy prices. He noted the US Navy could escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary. This follows recent Treasury sanctions on Iran's "shadow fleet" used to fund military programmes.
