Washington D.C. [USA], Dec 31 (ANI): Senior US Senator Lindsey Graham has stated that President Donald Trump is "open-minded" with regard to negotiations on the partial US government shutdown in the wake of dissonance over funding for the border wall between Trump and the Congress.
Graham underscored that he knew a few Democrats who would agree to fund the wall in exchange for protection of migrants, like the 'Dreamers', who came to the United States as children.
"I think that's in the realm of possibility. The president didn't commit, but I think he's very open-minded," the senior Republican Senator said outside the White House after a meeting with Trump, according to Sputnik.
He further remarked, "Hopefully, we can get some serious discussion started maybe as soon as next week."
The Senator's comments come in the midst of a partial government shutdown that has been in place since December 22. This was triggered by the Democrats refusing to fund the wall at Mexico border, which is an electoral promise of Trump's.
Trump has, time and again, reinforced his resolution to get the wall constructed, despite pushback from the Democrats. (ANI)
